I've been wanting to try the Wim Hof fundamentals for awhile now and on the hottest day of the year so far it was a welcome relief to get in that ice bath!

Not that it wasn't challenging, it was!!

Hot and cold therapy and breathing exercises have been a solid part of my recovery so it was great to take it a step further. 

But like anything it's about consistency so I've committed to doing the Wim Hof breathing technique and cold shower daily for the next 4 weeks to create that habit.

Fatigue is a major issue with Hashimoto's & Hypoth Fatigue is a major issue with Hashimoto's & Hypothyroidism. Here are my 3 top tips for getting your energy back!

1. Ditch the sugar, refined and processed foods. They are tanking your energy, keeping you on that blood sugar rollercoaster and increasing inflammation as well as the auto-immune attack.

2. Support your mitochondrial health. Mitochondria make provide you with energy, unhealthy mitochondria or a lack of them leads to fatigue, brain fog and whole host of other symptoms. You can support mitochondria with diet and lifestyle. Supplements are available but make sure you're working with someone who knows what they're doing before supplementing!

3. Get your iodine levels checked! Iodine deficiency can cause massive fatigue if left unchecked. It's a controversial area as many suggest avoiding iodine at all costs with Hashimoto's in particular. It was a game changer for me and has been for many others. But supplementation needs to be done safely.

Been told your results are normal, that you're fin Been told your results are normal, that you're fine? But still feel like shit? I was told this repeatedly for years! I slowly got more & more sick & gathered more autoimmune diagnosis' along the way. ​​​​​​​​

I changed my diet & my lifestyle. That helped massively. I felt more like a human than a zombie again!​​​​​​​​

But I still had to manage my energy & recovery. I still had hair loss, breast pain, horrendous PMS, muscle weakness, brain fog & a low resting heart rate.​​​​​​​​

I thought that was as good as it was going to get for me. ​​​​​​​​

But something kept niggling at me in the back of my mind. ​​​​​​​​

I'd seen others report they were back to feeling normal again. Rather than dismiss it as a fluke for them, or that maybe they weren't as sick as I was or had as many autoimmune illnesses going off as I had I decided to dig deeper.​​​​​​​​

Whilst studying nutrition I became aware of how crucial iodine was for thyroid hormone production & how many of the symptoms of iodine deficiency were the same as hypothyroidism. ​​​​​​​​

But I was petrified of trying iodine as I'd been told to stear clear at all costs unless I wanted to make my Hashimoto's worse.​​​​​​​​

Don't get me wrong that advice is warranted!​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
If you supplement with iodine & don't know what you're doing you can make things worse!!​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
But getting it right if you are deficient can be a game changer, it was for me!​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
It was the last piece of my puzzle to recovering my health, putting my antibodies in remission & being symptom free!​​​​​​​​
